How to choose a hydraulic press

A hydraulic press holds full force over the whole ram stroke, and its speed and stopping point are set for the part. That is why it is chosen for pressing and forming in a die, straightening and press-fitting rather than for fast series stamping. The section holds 14 TRtech OHP-H H-frame presses — from 100 to 2000 t — and the TRtech 300.

What to compare

• Force with a margin. It is calculated from the material, thickness and area of the part; a margin covers sheet strength that can exceed the nominal figure.
• Ram stroke and daylight. The OHP-H has strokes from 500 to 1000 mm; the daylight has to take the die together with the part. The maker does not list daylight, speeds, power and weight for this series — we confirm them for the chosen model in the quotation.
• Table. From 800×1000 mm on the 100–200 t presses to 1500×2000 mm on the 800–2000 t models.
• Cycle. A hydraulic press is compared not by strokes per minute but by its approach, working and return speeds — they set the rate.

Separately there is the TRtech 300: a 300 t hydromechanical calibration press with upper and lower rams (250 and 100 mm strokes), 900×700 mm tables and a pressing speed of 3–32 mm/s. It is used for final forming, when a part has to be brought to size from both sides of the die.

For small parts and workshops there are the multi-purpose NARGESA MX340G CNC and MX700 for 40 and 70 t: stamping, bending and forming in interchangeable tooling, 100 and 160 mm stroke, 180 and 350 mm throat, 245×265 and 600×350 mm tables. The customer’s own tooling can be fitted after the mounting, die height and force are checked.
