LUNA ORION and BLM GROUP fiber laser machines: for sheet, tube and profile, combined, large-format, plus laser welding.
A fiber laser cuts metal with a focused beam — mild and stainless steel, aluminium, copper and brass — with no tool that goes blunt and no allowance left for further machining. The catalog carries our own LUNA ORION machines and Italian BLM GROUP ones: working areas from 3000×1500 to 16,000×3200 mm, tube up to Ø550 mm on ORION and Ø610 mm on BLM, tube length 6 and 12 m, and Raycus, Maxphotonics or IPG sources from 1.5 to 60 kW.
| Section | What it cuts | When to choose it | In the catalog |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheet laser machines | sheet metal | the main sheet-cutting job | ORION S, D, E, ES, L and G; BLM LS5 and LS7 |
| Laser tube cutters | tube and profile | when tube is the main stock | ORION T ECO, T2, T2S, T2L, T3, T3L and T4; BLM LT |
| Sheet and tube | both sheet and tube | two jobs with one source on one footprint | ORION C and CE; BLM LC5 |
| Enclosed laser machines | sheet inside a protective cabin | safety, fume and noise in the shop | ORION E and ES; BLM LS5 and LS7 |
| Large-format lasers | sheet from 6 m | long parts, cladding, beams | ORION S, D and E with 60xx areas, the L series and the G gantry machines |
| Special laser systems | profiles in 3D, coil metal | unusual parts and automation | ORION H, R and PL; BLM LT-FREE |
| Laser welding | welds, cleans and cuts thin sheet | hand work in the shop and on site | LUNA POLARIS 4-in-1 |
On the ORION machines the source power is not fixed by the model: the same 3000×1500 mm area is supplied with a source from 1.5 to 60 kW. Kilowatts buy both thickness and speed — here are a few modes from our laser power selector.
| Material and thickness | Minimum power | Speed at that minimum | Speed at 6 kW |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mild steel 3 mm | 1 kW | 2.8 m/min | 20 m/min |
| Mild steel 10 mm | 1.5 kW | 0.9 m/min | 2.2 m/min |
| Mild steel 20 mm | 4 kW | 0.6 m/min | 0.6 m/min |
| Stainless steel 6 mm | 2 kW | 1.3 m/min | 7.5 m/min |
| Stainless steel 12 mm | 6 kW | 1.3 m/min | 1.3 m/min |
| Aluminium 6 mm | 4 kW | 2.2 m/min | 4.5 m/min |
The pattern is easy to see: on thin sheet kilowatts turn into speed — 3 mm mild steel runs seven times faster at 6 kW than at 1 kW. On thick sheet power is what makes the cut possible at all. Stainless steel and aluminium need more power than mild steel of the same thickness because they are cut with nitrogen; thick mild steel is cut with oxygen — slower, but with less power and with scale on the edge.
Send a drawing or DXF, the materials and thicknesses, the sheet size or tube diameter and the monthly volume — we will select the power, the working area and the automation, and cost delivery, commissioning and training. Cut parts are then bent on press brakes; if tube is cut in small batches without shaped cut-outs, a band saw.
A 1 kW source already cuts 6 mm mild steel at about 1.2 m/min, but in production people take more: at 6 kW the same thickness runs at 6.5 m/min. For 6 mm stainless the minimum is 2 kW (1.3 m/min) and 6 kW gives 7.5 m/min. Check your own material in the laser power selector.
The combined ORION C and CE cut sheet and tube with one source, which saves space and budget when tube work exists but is not the main job. If tube is the main stock, a dedicated tube cutter is faster: it has chucks, support for long tube and automatic loading.
So that loading does not stop the cutting: while the machine cuts on one table, the operator unloads parts and lays the next sheet on the other. In steady production that is noticeably more finished parts per shift; on one-off orders the difference is small.
The price depends on the source power, working area, configuration and automation, and on delivery terms, so it is not listed on the site. Send a request and we will prepare a quotation including delivery, commissioning and training.
DXF files or drawings of typical parts, the materials and thicknesses, the sheet size or the tube diameter and length, the monthly volume, whether you have compressed air, and the free floor area. From this we select the power, the model and the automation.
Send your part parameters — we'll select and quote.
