NARGESA PI85 punching machine: openings for the lock body, handle and cylinder in 35–50 mm tube profile for gates, wickets and doors.
To fit a lock into a gate or wicket made of box section, several openings are made in the profile: a slot for the lock body, a hole for the handle spindle and one for the cylinder. By hand this means marking out, drilling and grinding on every leaf, and the openings come out slightly different each time. A punching machine makes the whole set in one cycle at fixed distances — as the tooling for your lock defines them.
The catalog carries the NARGESA PI85. It takes profile with a 35, 40 or 50 mm working side and a 1.5 or 2 mm wall; lock backset 18–37 mm, centre distance between handle and cylinder 85 mm. The cycle takes about 58 seconds, drive 0.75 kW, weight 200 kg.
Holes and cut-outs of any shape in profile are cut by a laser tube cutter, while serial punching and blanking of parts from sheet and strip is the job of eccentric presses. Decorative gate elements — scrolls, twisted bars, embossed profile — are made on cold forging machines. All press types are in the Presses.
The distance from the lock faceplate to the axis of the handle and cylinder. It sets how far from the profile edge the cylinder hole will be. The PI85 works with a backset of 18–37 mm — narrow locks for profile structures.
The PI85 is specialised: it makes the set of openings for a lock. Holes of other shapes or in other places on the profile are better cut by laser, which needs no dedicated tooling for each hole.
