MAXION BRK multi-station drilling units: 3 to 6 drilling and tapping heads on one table.
Several drilling and tapping heads stand on a heavy cast-iron table with centralised electrics. The part moves from station to station, and each one does its own operation — drilling, countersinking, tapping — with no resetting in between. The layout is chosen for the specific part and process route.
MAXION BRK 18 takes 3–6 heads at 370 mm spacing with 340 mm working throat depth, using the BT 6 FREQUENZ, UNIMAX 1 FREQUENZ and UNIMAX 1 TAP bench heads. The MAXION BRK 20 takes 3–5 heads at 450 mm spacing with 455 mm throat depth, using the BT 18 GL, BT 20, UNIMAX 2 T and UNIMAX 2 TAP. The MAXION BRK 35 takes 3–6 heads at 450 mm spacing with 460 mm throat depth, using the BT 36, BT 36 GL, UNIMAX 3 T, UNIMAX 3 AV, UNIMAX 3 GL, UNIMAX 3 TAP and UNIMAX 4 Basic+.
Each head can be viewed separately: bench, column and tapping machines. General selection criteria are on the drilling machines.
| Model | Heads | Spacing | Throat depth | Table depth | Table height |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MAXION BRK 18 | 3–6 | 370 mm | 340 mm | 460 mm | 860 mm |
| MAXION BRK 20 | 3–5 | 450 mm | 455 mm | 600 mm | 830 mm |
| MAXION BRK 35 | 3–6 | 450 mm | 460 mm | 680 mm | 860 mm |
When one part runs in large batches and goes through several operations. The tool at each station is set once, the part moves along the table, and one operator runs the whole route.
The part drawing, the list of holes and threads, the material and quantity per shift. From this we select the number of stations, the heads and the tooling.
