LUNA Atlas C 1320 and C 1332 CNC cylindrical grinders: Siemens 828D, diameters of 8–320 mm and finish down to Ra 0.04 µm.
On a CNC machine the journals, fillets, tapers and faces of one part are ground to a program in a single setup: the control moves the wheel and the table with interpolation, holds the allowance and reaches size by itself. It is the choice for batches of precision shafts where every part has to be the same.
The catalog holds two models: the LUNA Atlas C 1320 CNC for Ø8–200 mm with 500 or 750 mm between centers and a 400×50×203 mm wheel, and the LUNA Atlas C 1332 CNC for Ø8–320 mm with 1000 or 1500 mm and a 500×80×203 mm wheel. Both have a Siemens 828D control, with FANUC 0i as an option, and a stated finish down to Ra 0.04 µm.
If you do not need a program, the simpler options are the cylindrical grinders and the NC versions. How to compare grinding machines is covered on the grinding machines.
| Model | Diameter range | Between centers | Wheel | Control |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LUNA Atlas C 1320 CNC | 8–200 mm | 500 / 750 mm | 400 × 50 × 203 mm | Siemens 828D; FANUC 0i – option |
| LUNA Atlas C 1332 CNC | 8–320 mm | 1000 / 1500 mm | 500 × 80 × 203 mm | Siemens 828D; FANUC 0i – option |
The standard fit is a Siemens 828D, with FANUC 0i available as an option. The deciding factor is what controls you already run in the shop: a common control means common operator habits, spares and service.
