The NC versions differ from the universal ones not in mechanics but in control: the wheel feed and the grinding cycle are entered as numbers on the control rather than set by handwheel. The machine holds the allowance per pass, the number of passes and the spark-out itself, so the second part comes out like the first.

The section holds nine Palmary models: from the Palmary GU20x40NC with a 305×38×127 mm wheel and a 2.1 kW drive to the GU42x200NC with a 355×50×127 mm wheel and 3.75 kW. The numbers in the name are the diameter over the table and the distance between centers: a GU32x150NC is Ø320 mm and 1500 mm.

Why choose NC when there is a universal machine?

For identical parts. On a universal machine the size depends on the grinder’s experience; on an NC machine it depends on the set cycle. If a batch of identical shafts runs every week, NC saves setting-up time and reduces scrap.
