KSP StormyBLAST sandblast cabinets: dry abrasive blasting of parts to remove rust, scale and old paint in an enclosed cabinet.
A dry abrasive jet removes from metal what neither water nor solvent can touch: rust, scale, old paint and carbon. It also prepares the surface for painting — after blasting, coatings hold far better than on smooth metal. The work is done in an enclosed cabinet with extraction and abrasive recovery.
There are two models in the catalog: the KSP StormyBLAST A1000 with a 100 kg load and a 70 l tank, and the KSP StormyBLAST A1300 with a 90 l tank. The type and grade of abrasive are matched to the metal and the finish required: steel and aluminium need different ones.
If dust in the shop is unacceptable or the part is thin, a wet blasting unit is the better choice. Oil and coolant are not removed with abrasive — that is what the cabinet washers are for. How to compare washing equipment is covered on the washing machines.
It depends on the metal and the job: steel takes a harder abrasive, while aluminium and thin parts need a softer, finer one so the surface is not deformed. The type, grade and consumption are agreed for your part.
Compressed air of the right capacity and extraction with a filter: blasting dust is fine and harmful. That is part of the project rather than an optional extra.
